Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) is looking for up to four senior business professionals who are passionate about transport in the region to join our Business Transport Advisory Council (BTAC).
GM’s transport and travel priorities aim to provide an environmentally sustainable network which is accessible, affordable, and supports long-term economic growth. We have already taken the lead by bringing buses back under local control, in the biggest change to public transport in the city-region in nearly 40 years. The Bee Network will deliver a joined-up, sustainable and inclusive transport system which will support safe, seamless and affordable end-to-end journeys across public transport and active travel.
Against this exciting backdrop, you will help us set the future direction. TfGM’s business engagement strategy seeks to strengthen our understanding of how businesses view the transport network, what businesses need to enable more colleagues and customers to use sustainable transport, and their
priorities for public transport and active travel. Our Business Transport Advisory Council, co-chaired by Vernon Everitt, Transport Commissioner, enables a more informed approach to this, ensuring that we support the city region as we continue to tackle shared challenges and develop ambitions for GM’s transport network and infrastructure. It is an opportunity to offer insight and share understanding of the thoughts and priorities of Greater Manchester’s business community. Your influence and knowledge will see that we address business transport needs. For example, BTAC played a role in the design and roll out of a 24-hour night-bus pilot. Take a look at what some of our members have to say about BTAC here: Linkedin | Transport for
Greater Manchester | BTAC.
This is a voluntary role that requires decision-making business experience. You will bring clear insight into the GM region, and you will be quick to understand issues and able to contribute to strategy.
Strong communication skills mean you will express your thoughts articulately and collaborate with others.
We are looking for up to four additional members from Bolton, Bury Oldham or Tameside. You will be joining a diverse group of business leaders from the across the city region. You can find a list of current members here: Groups we work with | Bee Network | Powered by TfGM. We welcome a range of applicants that reflect the diversity of our GM communities and the full range of business sectors, sizes and locations.
BTAC members are required to meet in person once every quarter. If you are interested in joining,
