Squire Patton Boggs Promotes Three Manchester Lawyers to Partnership

(MANCHESTER – 7 March, 2022) – Squire Patton Boggs is pleased to announce the promotion of three senior lawyers to the Manchester partnership. Victoria Murphy (Tax Strategy & Benefits) trained and qualified with the firm and, along with Emma Ball (Intellectual Property & Technology) and Matthew Canipa (Corporate), comprise this year’s cohort of newly promoted partners.
Victoria Murphy has experience in a wide variety of taxation matters with a specialism relating to corporate finance in both the mergers and acquisitions, and private equity fields, alongside a depth of experience in employment taxes, share schemes and employee benefits. Victoria trained with the firm and is listed in The Legal 500 UK 2022 as a rising star. Victoria is also a qualified Chartered Tax Adviser.
Emma Ball is a commercial and IP lawyer with considerable experience in advising on all manner of supply and procurement agreements and IP licensing. Before joining the firm she worked in-house as a lawyer for MyTravel Group Plc/Thomas Cook, and with her particular interest and expertise in the hospitality, leisure and travel industry, she now advises clients in these and other sectors on various matters, including franchising and brand licensing and hotel and property/asset management agreements.
Matthew Canipa advises on all aspects of corporate finance work and has a particular specialism in private equity and mergers and acquisitions, in the local, national and international markets, acting for private equity houses, corporates, management teams and owner-managers. In the last 12 months Matthew has advised on Vitruvian’s investment into AnyVan, the sale of Reward Gateway to Abry Partners and Castik Capital, ECI’s exit from KB Associates, Regis’s Leaf Living joint venture with Blackstone and a number of acquisitions for international web hosting business Miss Group. Matthew was also nominated for the Young Dealmaker of the Year award at the North West Business Insider Awards 2021 and the Rising Star award at TheBusinessDesk Rainmakers 2021.
