Member Spotlight: Phil Donoghue, Founder & Managing Director – Cloud4 Technology

I’m Phil, founder and managing director of Cloud4 Technology. I’ve been in the tech industry for over 20 years, the last 15 of which have been building and running Cloud4. I’m a cyber security specialist and certified cyber assessor.

Career highlight:

I think one of the highlights of my career was winning a national BT business award for excellence in customer service while I was in banking, for the success of an idea I brought to the business and developed. During my time at Cloud4 there have been lots of highlights, but I’d say getting through the process and becoming a certification body for Cyber Essentials and Cyber Assured would certainly be one of those.

Name three words that describe your personality: Innovative, dedicated, client-focused

What’s the best thing about pro-manchester?

The best thing about pro-manchester is the vibrant business community it’s helped us become part of. Not being a natural networker, it provides valuable networking opportunities where you get to know people, without it feeling like a sales environment. We’ve met so many like minded businesses who we now work with or just collaborate and swap ideas and challenges with, so it’s been really positive for both me and Cloud4.

What are your priorities for 2024?

My priorities for 2024 include expanding our client base, continuing to enhance our cybersecurity services, and staying at the forefront of technology advancements to help us continue to deliver the highest levels of service to our clients.

What do you think are the most important things going on in Manchester at the moment?

Manchester is a dynamic business environment full of incredible innovators, with a growing focus on technology and fintech. The city’s commitment to becoming a digital hub presents exciting opportunities for businesses like ours.

Favourite meeting place in Manchester:

That’s a tough one there are so many great places now. I’d have to say my favourites are the Marriot V&A as it’s a lovely environment where you can always guarantee a warm welcome. I also really like Bloc on Marble Street. It’s got everything you’d want for a meeting place, something Bruntwood do particularly well, I think.

What types of business would you like to meet?

I am open to meeting businesses across various industries, especially those that value the importance of robust cybersecurity measures. Collaborating with forward-thinking SMEs typically with 20 – 250 employees is our key focus. If you use email, connect anything to the internet, or use Microsoft 365 I’d love to chat.
