Member Spotlight: Lauren Somers, Chartered Trade Mark Attorney – HGF Limited

1. Introduce yourself

I’m Lauren, a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney at HGF Limited. I help individuals and businesses of all sizes clear, protect and enforce their brands. I have been in the profession for over 12 years and help my clients in range of sectors. I am also the co-chair of the pro-manchester Retail and e-Commerce committee which organises events with this sector focus for the pro-manchester network.

2. Career highlight

I have had many! I was promoted to Partner at HGF this year which was a very proud moment, as was twice being nominated for a Made in Manchester Award (MIMA). I didn’t go home with the win either time but to be nominated among such talent was amazing. The MIMAs award ceremony is always a great night too!

Friendly but forceful 😉

4. What’s the best thing about pro-manchester

The people. Every pro-manchester event that I have ever been to (and by now that’s quite some) has been filled with room of people from diverse businesses and backgrounds, ready to chat. People are genuinely keen to get to know one another and work together where possible.

5. What are your priorities for 2024

I hope to continue helping businesses in Manchester and beyond understand the value of intellectual property (IP), as well as harness this value by securing IP protection.

6. What do you think are the most important things going on in Manchester at the moment?

Manchester is such a vibrant city and it doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. The number of cranes in the skyline and new stores, bars and restaurants popping up each month are a strong indicator of the investment in the city and its economic strength.

7. Favourite meeting place in Manchester

HGF’s Manchester office is opposite The Ivy in Spinningfields – convenient and classy.

8. Are there any particular types of businesses that you would like to meet

I am keen to meet innovative individuals and businesses, especially those who may need support with understanding and protecting their IP.
