Hello! I’m Andrew Finlayson, also known as Finny, and I am the North West Regional lead for Accenture UKIA. We’ve a few offices in the North West, with our main one in the wonderful Oxford Road corridor at 2 Circle Square. I live in Blackpool, and have worked all around the North West and much further afield too.
Career highlight: I’ve been very fortunate over my career to have worked with many wonderful people and in a variety of companies. I’ve generally worked in and around technology and always at the forefront of the tech and creative trends affecting our world. I once led a Marketing Technology Programme for a Biopharmaceutical client which meant I had to travel to lots of countries – and have so far clocked up 50. Not bad for a sandgrownian – learned loads and loved the variety of people that I got to meet.
Name three words that describe your personality: Arranger, Positivity, Kindness
What’s the best thing about pro-manchester? I lead a community that is full of wonderful people who work in lots of industries. Financial Services, Automotive, Resources & Utilities, Retail, Health, Life Sciences, Public Sector and we innovative and are at the cutting edge in most areas. We want the Manchester business community to see us, hear us and work with us and see the positive difference we make. I see Pro-Manchester as a wonderful way to connect as for all the things we do well, we’re in a Global company and sometimes we can get a bit lost and partnerships like Pro-Manchester help us find ourselves.
What are your priorities for 2024? Empower and support all our different talent groups to be their best and become more widely known as active contributors in Manchester. It’s vibrant, it’s inclusive and it’s got a business community that we truly love. Who doesn’t want to be a part of that.
What do you think are the most important things going on in Manchester at the moment? The Innovation initiatives that I see all around. There is a real and deliberate resurgence of the entrepreneur mindset in many business leaders. Whether it be Generative AI, Quantum, Modern Engineering, HealthTech through to FinTech – there seems to be someone doing something and it’s a joy to be a part of.
Favourite meeting place in Manchester: Kimpton Clocktower Hotel. It’s just up the road from the office, and easy for visitors to the area to find as it’s right opposite Oxford Road station. Iconic building and hard to miss. We’ve done our Winter Party there and the Management and Staff are lovely.
