1. Introduce yourself
I’m Adam Bromley, Partner and Head of Property at Forbes Solicitors. Forbes is a full-service law firm with a strong presence across Manchester, Lancashire, and Leeds. I’ve been with the firm since starting as a Trainee Solicitor in September 2002, so you could say I know Forbes inside and out!
2. Career highlight
A defining moment for me was mastering Licensing Law after the introduction of the Licensing Act 2003. It was a challenge, but conquering it instilled a belief in me: with determination, anything is achievable.
3. Name three words that describe your personality
Honest, Diligent and Reliable
4. What’s the best thing about pro-manchester
The variety and inclusivity of the events. One minute you can be attending informative conference style events with hundreds of attendees and the next you’re at a bar with a few people chatting over a few drinks and nibbles. All the events are always superbly organised, relevant and interesting.
5. What are your priorities for 2024
This year, I’m focused on two key initiatives:
1. Launching a premium residential conveyancing service: This innovative offering will provide a faster, smoother, and more professional solicitor-led experience for our clients.
2. Expanding our construction and development expertise: We’re recruiting a talented planning lawyer to bolster the team’s capabilities. (See below for potential networking opportunities.)
6. What do you think are the most important things going on in Manchester at the moment?
It is going to be very interesting to see how Andy Burnham’s influence on Central Government develops with Labour now in power. There have already been hugely positive noises and actions coming out since the General Election and these are very exciting times for developments in Property and Transport.
7. Favourite meeting place in Manchester
It’s all about the coffee! Current front runners are Black Sheep Coffee on Deansgate and Pot Kettle Black in Barton Arcade. However, I am always open to new recommendations and excuses to meet there.
8. Are there any particular types of businesses that you would like to meet
I am keen to meet more businesses in the Construction and Development sectors. We have a very strong Construction offering at Forbes spread across Public, Commercial and Consumer divisions and with the new Labour’s Government to build 1.5 million homes in the next 5 years, the need for legal advice in Construction matters is greater than it has been in a long time.
