1. Introduce yourself

I’m Aaron Conneran, a Director at Axon Moore, a recruitment consultancy committed to connecting exceptional finance leaders with ambitious businesses. I specialise in partnering with PE-backed and high-growth companies across the North West, with a particular focus on securing senior finance talent to fuel growth and long-term success.

I’m particularly passionate about supporting finance professionals with career defining opportunities and guidance. My expertise lies in helping businesses hire senior finance leaders into key roles – especially first-time FDs where securing the right talent is critical to business success. I have a strong track record in this space, ensuring companies find the leadership they need to scale effectively and that professionals find the right role to succeed.

Beyond recruitment, I’m an active member of the Pro-Manchester Corporate Finance Committee. This role allows me to connect with finance professionals across the region while contributing to discussions and events that shape the thriving Corporate Finance community.

2. Career highlight

One of the standout moments in my career has been leading Axon Moore’s expansion in Manchester – rebuilding the team in Manchester into one of the region’s top-performing finance recruitment teams. Today, with over 10 specialist consultants, we support businesses at all levels of finance, delivering exceptional talent solutions.

A true career highlight has been mentoring and developing my colleagues. Seeing one of my team members grow into an outstanding Qualified Finance Recruiter – and go on to win an award at the Made in Manchester Awards – was a particularly proud moment.

Beyond my team, I’m deeply committed to strengthening the region’s senior finance community. That passion led me to create Future Leaders – a platform designed to help aspiring FD’s connect, learn, and grow. Watching this community flourish into a 100+ strong network has been incredibly rewarding, and I’m excited to see its impact continue.

5. What are your priorities for 2025

This year, my focus is on strengthening our market position by doing what we do best – connecting businesses with the best financial talent while building new relationships and deepening existing ones. I’m also committed to developing my team, supporting their career growth, and helping them achieve their goals – a passion that drives me daily.

Beyond recruitment, our finance community events have become a real differentiator, fostering a peer network for FDs across the region. I’m excited to see these continue to grow and add value to the market.

On a personal level, I’m focused on expanding my network and delivering an exceptional service to both clients and candidates – helping businesses thrive by securing the best financial talent in Manchester.

6. What do you think are the most important things going on in Manchester at the moment?

Manchester continues to be a hub of growth and innovation, with significant investment in tech, finance, and infrastructure. The city’s rapid development, including new commercial projects and the evolution of its financial sector, is creating exciting opportunities for businesses and professionals alike.

7. Favourite meeting place in Manchester

Haunt is definitely my go to place; it feels like my second office at times.

8. Are their any particular types of businesses that you would like to meet

I am always keen to connect with ambitious entrepreneurial founders, CEO’s and MD’s as they look to hire talented Finance leaders. I’d also love to engage with private equity firms and investors who are shaping the region’s business landscape.
