1st March 2022, 2:09 pm

Manchester, United Kingdom, 18th February – From the 25th – 29th April 2022, Manchester is set to host the inaugural Manchester Tech Week – the North’s largest ever digital transformation event – which will assemble the best of the northern tech community for a special week of innovation, showcase and collaborations.

The event is brought to Manchester by Clarion Events, the organisers of IP EXPO (now re-branded Digital Transformation EXPO (DTX)) and Unified Communications EXPO (UCX).

It puts tech firmly at the forefront of economic recovery post-pandemic for the North and is hosted in Manchester – the city which continues to lead the way in networks, cloud transformation, cyber security, data, AI, broadcasting and collaboration technologies.

On the opening day, Gary Neville – the footballer turned TV pundit, hotelier, property developer and university founder – will deliver a keynote speech to talk about the role of mental resilience, team strategy and data driven decision making.

James McGough, MD of Manchester Tech Week, said the purpose of the event was to showcase how tech is transforming both business and society in Europe’s fastest growing digital city.

He commented “We’re thrilled to be launching Manchester Tech Week. This will be the North’s biggest digital transformation event focussed on how to improve connectivity and implement cutting edge enterprise technologies.

“We’ll be featuring a collective of some of the region’s most loved institutions, community groups, and associations as we bring together the northern tech community for something truly special. With the 150+ of the world’s leading technology brands, Manchester Central is set to host the biggest tech exhibition that the region has ever seen.”

The week will be anchored by three major shows – Digital Transformation EXPO (DTX) which returns for its sixth outing in the city (previously IP EXPO) as well as the launch of Unified Communications EXPO (UCX) and Connected North. Together these events will address the major challenges faced by public and private sector organisations of all sizes and provide a roadmap for future strategy.

There will be a further 10 fringe events from supporting partners including big-hitting support from major institutions including the Department of International Trade, MIDAS, H.O.S.T, GM Combined Authority, GM Chamber of Commerce, Pro-Manchester, Manchester Digital, and the leading community meet-up groups from Cyber Security, DevOps and AI.

It will also feature some of the world’s most influential tech brands including CISCO, Okta, AWS, 8X8, Zoom, Splunk, Threatlocker, DarkTrace, RingCentral and GAMMA, delivering more NOW and WOW factor for visitors looking to accelerate digital transformation in their businesses.

CISCO Chief Executive, UK & Ireland, David Meads commented: “With a heritage in innovation, Manchester has a rare kind of technology-fuelled ambition, which deserves a spotlight. We are delighted to be partnering with Manchester Tech Week to help create just that.”

He added: “From AI to quantum computing, technology has the potential to not only connect us in ways that we haven’t yet imagined, but to solve challenges at every level; for regions, industries, or for small businesses looking to take on the world. We’ve only just scratched the surface.”

Keynotes at the event include Physicist Professor Jim Al-Khalili who will look at how the science of tomorrow is set to guide the world of work today and the award-winning security blogger Graham Cluley, who will discuss the role of cyber security, hacking and how to make the right decisions under pressure.
