Manchester Metro Bank Appeals for Donations for Local Foodbank this Christmas

Metro Bank’s Manchester store is collecting donations in store to help support Manchester Central Foodbank as part of its Christmas Community Campaign this winter. The Bank was just named Store of the Year at this week’s Manchester Arndale Retail Awards ceremony.

 

Part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust which is working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK. The charity’s vision is for a UK without the need for foodbanks as one in five in the UK live below the poverty line.  In the past 12 months, the Manchester Central Foodbank has given emergency food supplies to over 4,000 people.

 

Manchester residents and businesses can donate the items the foodbank is urgently requesting at its Market Street store including: tinned fish/meat/fruit/vegetables, cereal, shower gel and soap.

 

“As a community bank our colleagues and customers want to support those most in need this Christmas through this fantastic local charity,” explains Manchester Metro Bank Store Manager, Nilany Vasantharasan.  “We would encourage everyone to give a little this Christmas – even one tin can make a difference.  I want to thank everyone in advance for their generous support.”

 

All donations are welcome at Metro Bank’s Manchester is located at 45 Market Street, M1 1WR. The store is open Monday – Saturday: 8:30am – 6pm, Sunday: 11am – 5pm. Manchester Metro Bank is also part of the Safe Space scheme – the store is available to anyone experiencing, or at risk of domestic abuse, providing the opportunity to safely call a helpline, support service or loved one.
