Leadership, talent and engagement specialist Cirrus, part of Accenture, has commissioned acclaimed poet and Chancellor of the University of Manchester, Lemn Sissay OBE, to produce new work that explores agile methodologies through spoken word.

The poem, which premieres at The Agile Advantage virtual conference today, is the centrepiece of a short film that features choreography by Chad Taylor, captured by filmmaker David Gennard and filmed in Manchester.

Taking place from 7 – 8 July, The Agile Advantage will bring together a global audience of leaders to explore the latest thinking in agile leadership. Sissay’s new creative work invites audiences to take a moment of pause during the virtual event, and presents the themes of agility, innovation, and disruption in a thought-provoking collaboration of poetry, dance and film.

Cirrus CEO and honorary professor at Alliance Manchester Busines School, Dr Simon Hayward, explains: “As leaders face the challenge of engaging people through different channels and against an ever-changing backdrop, we wanted to take pause for thought with this creative approach to storytelling. The poem will provide our audiences with something that will bring to life the themes we’re exploring over the course of the event. We also wanted to celebrate disruptive thinking and collaborative achievement through creativity, which may spark new ideas for audiences to take to their own organisations.”

The Agile Advantage’s keynote speakers include Gary Hamel, one of the world’s most influential business thinkers; Simon Hayward, CEO of Cirrus and author of The Agile Leader; and Christie Smith, Global Talent & Organization/Human Potential Lead at Accenture. Erica Dhawan, one of the world’s foremost thought leaders on 21st-century collaboration, will also join for an exclusive interview.
