Marc Yaffe, Managing Partner at full-service law firm JMW Solicitors LLP has announced a 12% rise in revenue at its half year point of 31st October 2022.
Despite concerns over the economy JMW’s staff have received a Christmas bonus with each person at the firm receiving the same no matter what role they occupy.
The revenue from May to October 2022 reached £36.2 million, an increase of £3.7 million. The firm is therefore likely to exceed its financial target for the 2022/2023 financial year of £71.8 million. However, this is dependent on the economy going forward.
JMW have recently been ranked in the Times Best Law Firms 2023 for Commercial Dispute Resolution; Family; Insolvency & Restructuring; Personal Injury & Clinical Negligence and Professional Negligence. Legal directories Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners 2023 both ranked the Family, Clinical Negligence and Business Crime & Regulatory teams in the North West in Tier 1. The firm also recently ranked 28th in the Large Best Companies to Work For and ranked in the top 5 for the legal sector.
JMW continues to recruit extensively with a number of lateral hires at Partner level. In the past year staff numbers have grown across the firm from 624 in October 2021 to 714 at the end of October 2022.
Commenting on the continuing recruitment at JMW, Joy Kingsley, Joint Senior Partner said:

Julian joins JMW from Shoosmiths London office and advises employers, trustees and individuals on all aspects of pensions law. He acts for pensions schemes that are sponsored by the likes of Army & Navy Club, National Education Union and Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
Julian’s appointment followed the recruitment of Ikram Malik who specialises in Corporate Immigration and he regularly advises businesses to become approved Sponsor Licence holders enabling them to employ non-settled skilled workers. His recent work includes representing businesses in health and care, hospitality, sports, construction, manufacturing, education, technology, and medical sector.
In October JMW’s Personal Injury team was joined by Cathy Leech, a leading lawyer in Catastrophic Injury from Irwin Mitchell as a Partner. Cathy specialises in spinal cord, brain and complex injury claims and is well known for her work for many years with the Spinal Injuries Association.

“We are extremely pleased with our continued growth. Our record 6-month performance has been fuelled by the requirements of our existing clients and the addition of new clients across all areas of our firm. Our ambitious growth plans are aligned with our clients’ needs. The success we continue to enjoy is supported by the hard work of all our Partners and staff and this is why we wanted to reward them with a bonus again at Christmas.
