You are invited to join the Environmental Sustainability Ambassadors on Thursday, May 18th at 5:30pm to hear from guest speakers representing Manchester City Council, Salford University and BNY Mellon. We will be discussing how Manchester is committed to becoming a zero-carbon city by 2038.The event will have a Q&A portion for our guest speakers to answer any questions you might have. Refreshments and nibbles will be provided.

 

Speakers:

Sarah Hensall, Zero Carbon Manager – Manchester City Council

Sarah has worked across the climate change and sustainability sector for 16 years within public, private and third sector organisations, often with a focus on engaging and influencing decision makers and leaders on the agenda In her current role at Manchester City Council, Sarah leads the Council’s Zero Carbon team which is responsible for managing the Council’s Climate Change programme.

Professor Karl Dayson, Institutional Lead for Sustainability – University of Salford

Salford has a proud track record in sustainability, winning numerous awards and finishing 9th in the 2023 People and Planet University League Table, including being ranked 2nd nationally for water reduction. Karl is leading the team in updating the University’s Sustainability Strategy, to ensure it becomes net-zero by 2038. Whilst much of the focus is on the physical estate, he is embedding sustainability within university curriculum and research, as well as the wider behaviour of staff and students to transform the culture and environmental footprint.

Jennifer Wotton, Head of Business Management – BNY Mellon

Jenny is Head of Business Management – Office of the International CIO. A portfolio director specialising in large scale transformational change in the banking industry. Jenny is passionate about D&I, Women in Technology, Social Inclusion and most recently was involved in a grass roots Neurodiversity Collective tasked with raising awareness of not only the challenges faced by Neurodiverse individuals but also focus on their strengths in the workplace.
