ICAEW Q4 Business Confidence Briefing/Economic Summit: 30 November 2022

11th November 2022, 3:40 pm

As ICAEW launches the Q4 findings of its Business Confidence Monitor, one of the most comprehensive UK indicators of national and regional business confidence, we bring together experts from across the UK to discuss the current economic environment and its impact on business.

Keynote speaker, Huw Pill, Chief Economist for the Bank of England, will headline an insightful plenary session, led by ICAEW’s Iain Wright and expert panellists, providing an update on the UK economy. The panel will present the Business Confidence Monitor findings, discuss the key themes and consider what the future holds for UK businesses. Delegates will be invited to pose questions to Huw and other panellists during this session.

After the plenary session, there will be regional break-out sessions, encompassing all UK regions and the devolved nations with a panel of experts from each region focussing discussion and debate on the specific findings and outlook for the region and its businesses.  On the panel for the North West are:

  • Ian Storey, Chief Operating Officer, musicMagpie
  • Liz Carnie, Corporate Director, Chester Zoo
  • James McMillan, CEO, myNexus
  • Jonny Oliver, Lead – CFO at The Very Group

Each expert panel will include regional business leaders and Bank of England regional agents, and will explore the local impact of economic conditions, how their businesses have adapted to recent events and challenges – such as supply chain management, procurement, staffing, transportation, and inflationary pressure – and where they believe the true opportunities lie for the regional economy, its industry sectors, infrastructure, and businesses as we look to 2023 and beyond.

I hope you will be able to join us.
