DTE Corporate Finance was appointed to carry out financial due diligence in the investment made by Maven Capital Partners into Relative Insight, a Lancaster-based language understanding business.
Founded in 2012, Relative Insight originated from a research project with Lancaster University’s linguistic and cyber security departments, working in conjunction with law enforcement agencies for the main purpose of identifying criminals posing as children in chatrooms. As application for their solutions expands, the company has seen their platform adopted by an increasing number of advertising and marketing clients, both in the UK and US, who utilise the company’s language analytics.
Maven Capital Partners is an independent alternative asset manager that operates from a nationwide network of regional offices. Maven is one of the most active private equity firms in the UK with over £415 million of assets under management and in the region works alongside the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund supporting local business.
As part of the deal facilitation, Maven Capital Partners instructed DTE Corporate Finance to carry out a financial due diligence. The result of this successful deal led to Relative Insight securing £4 million in funding, which will be used to support the company’s growth strategy and for it to open its first US office in New York City, continuing to develop its AI-driven platform.
Matt Beckley, Director and Head of DTE Corporate Finance, commented: ‘This is a really good business. Some top people and a great product. Good luck all. Myself and my team very much enjoyed working with all the stakeholders in this matter and build on our relationship with Maven.’
