The Role
This is an exciting role in a small team with a big ambition to help drive regional development in the North and really enhance the value for membership across the region in line with CIPD’s growth agenda. There is also an opportunity to evolve the role as we continue to look at regional development in the North of England and future opportunities.
The Members, Networks and Communities Manager will be home based and will require reasonable travel throughout Northern England, including attending meetings and events held outside office hours and occasionally at weekends. You will ideally be based in or around city regions in Manchester, Leeds or Liverpool and open to travelling to CIPD’s head office in Wimbledon for occasional meetings.
You will be an all-rounder who enjoys variety and challenge in a role. You will need to be proactive in your approach and work on your own initiative and be able to make decisions, where appropriate. You will need to juggle priorities and be flexible in your approach to their work.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Developing and maintaining key stakeholder relationships, including CIPD members, employers and partners in the region to support joint plans to drive CIPD purpose, regional development and membership growth.
- Identifying other networks and communities for the in-market team to engage key audiences, ensuring that key customer groups’ needs are understood and met and CIPD Voice is heard.
- Developing and maintaining market knowledge and intelligence to identify market opportunities to enhance the value for membership and to contribute to regional insight.
- Working with the regional comms specialist to deliver effective communications to optimise member engagement via all communication channels including social media, printed, press and media, e-newsletters and regional blogs.
- Contributing to the regional strategy for Northern England including the branch business planning process to ensure alignment of local, regional and national plans.
- Collaborating with the wider team, northern branches and events partners to deliver in-market membership engagement activities, ranging from annual conferences, roundtables, forums, networks and collaborative events, shaping the content, supporting speaker acquisition and selling exhibition and sponsorship space.
What You’ll Need to Be Successful
- Can identify opportunities to add value and impact stakeholder groups.
- Experience of external engagement and confident in delivering presentations to senior stakeholders and management teams.
- Strong team player credentials and are a self-starter.
- Highly organized and the ability to deal with multiple demands and deadlines and regain focus after switching between tasks.
- Proven ability to handle high volumes of work to tight deadlines.
- Confident with website management and social media tools.
- A good understanding and some experience of event management, particularly shaping, planning and delivering events, networks and roundtables for a range of key stakeholders.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
