After a gruelling 12 hours of playing Padel at Manchester’s Pure Padel Club today (Thursday 14 November 2024), Manchester law firm JMW became Cure Leukaemia’s first North West corporate partner to hit the £10,000 fundraising mark for the charity.
The Padelathon was set up and run in collaboration with Pure Padel.
Stars from the worlds of sport, television and comedy came together for the event, collectively raising money for the charity and the opportunity of playing padel with JMW’s managing partner, Marc Yaffe and Sammy Arora, founder of Pure Padel. Money raised so far totals more than £18,000.
Funds raised through this event will go directly to the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, contributing to the ongoing work of the ATICUS network to benefit children and families impacted by blood cancer in the North West.
Those demonstrating their mastery – or otherwise – of the sport included ex-Premiership footballers Danny Simpson, Danny Drinkwater, Wes Morgan and Marlon Harewood, Keaton Jennings, the Lancashire Cricket Club captain, Ashley Taylor-Dawson of Hollyoaks, and brothers Ryan (Coronation Street, Dancing on Ice) and Scott (Love Island, now entrepreneur) Thomas.
