HideOut Youth Zone

Empower Youth Zones

EMPOWER is the youth charity which oversees the operations of both HideOut Youth Zone and Salford Youth Zone. EMPOWER was formed to give children and young people in Manchester and Salford the opportunity to discover their passion and purpose.

It is EMPOWER’s mission to provide all young people with somewhere safe to go, something positive to do and someone trusted to talk to in Manchester and Salford.

We give young people from a diverse range of backgrounds access to incredible facilities in a vibrant, purpose-built space packed with engaging activities, the opportunity to make friends, develop new skills, unlock their potential and have fun.

We are providing a new narrative. One that focuses on celebrating the strengths of young people and our communities.

This is passionate and properly funded youth provision: a dedicated partnership between young people, their local community, local authorities and a dedicated following of patrons and supporters.

EMPOWER current patrons include Alverez & Marsal, ANS Group, APTI, Assura, Godel Technologies, Beyond Corporate, Bruntwood, The JD Foundation, Hobbycraft, Houlihan Lokey, Inflexion, Landsec, Lendlease, Living Bridge, The Manchester Ball, The Manchester Building Society, Mission Mars, Muse, One Manchester, Paul Shannon, The Raheem Sterling Foundation, Together, Salboy, Salix,  Sandywood Property and Waterland.

The success of EMPOWER’s first Youth Zone, HideOut in Manchester, has paved the way for the development of a new Salford Youth Zone which has been championed and financially backed by local businessman and philanthropist, Fred Done, and Salford City Council. EMPOWER was also awarded a grant from the Youth Investment Fund in partnership with the national youth charity, OnSide, who has supported the creation and development of 15 Youth Zones across the U.K. to date, with an ambition of creating 35 Youth Zones by 2035.
