Course Overview

Networking and business development hinge very much on a number of key areas;  these are no longer considered ‘soft skills’, but core human skills to support how we ‘fuel the connections’. How do we fuel these connections, how do we build trust, rapport, but also consider our communication skills to better prepare for future engagement.

There are learnable ways to build network, to ‘work a room’ and to consider the legacy of our engagement “people will forget what you said, they will forget what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel” (Maya Angelou)

The seven key learning outcomes from this workshop are:

Communication: Asking the right questions and listening with fascination, being curious and be in a position to articulate requirements and potential solutions. It is very much about genuine engagement.

Relationship Building: Cultivating trust and rapport in a way that longer-term relationships often lead to the best opportunities.

Persuasion and Negotiation: ‘Life is a negotiation’; being persuasive but also willing to find common ground and understanding under-pinning principles of negotiation to demonstrate a win-win scenario.

Research and Preparation: Business intelligence and analysis to better understand your industry, market trends and the people you’re connecting with. It is all about the preparedness, creativity and innovation to provide solutions to your network.

Follow-Up: Systematically consider follow up methods and maintaining connections. It perfects the need to add value whilst allowing others to feel valued.

Adaptability: Staying flexible and open to new ideas and opportunities. The business landscape is always changing, looking creatively at future-proofing and environmental scanning.

Personal Branding: Presenting yourself authentically, effectively and becoming the Business Development professional of choice
