About the Speakers:
Sam has been at pro-manchester for 17 years and has been an integral part of its growth from a small, effective membership network to a sophisticated business development organisation. A firm part of the Manchester business community, Sam is a familiar face to most, constantly and efficiently working to bring businesses together in the city region.
As chief executive, Sam is responsible for the organisation’s corporate engagement as well managing all existing key partnerships and member relationships. Sam manages the day-to-day running and strategic direction of the business alongside Nicola McCormick – COO. They run the organisation together as equal partners with shared responsibility.
Sam also sits on the board of trustees for Forever Manchester, a charity that supports community activity across Greater Manchester. As well as this, Sam also sits on the Greater Manchester Economic Resilience Board, the Greater Manchester Organisational Representatives Group, the Manchester Business Sounding Board, the Bee Net Zero Advisory Board and the Manchester tech hub Board.
In 2019 Sam also became the Regional Deputy Chair of TheCityUK, where she helps to engage the national body on a regional level on behalf of individuals in the financial and professional services industries. In 2022 Sam was featured in the inaugural Top 50 North West tech Transformers list complied by BusinessCloud
Phil Donoghue is the Founder and Managing Director of Cloud4 Technology, a leading cyber security services provider based in Manchester. With a passion for safeguarding businesses against cyber threats, Phil has guided the development of the company’s flagship service, Cyber Protect 247. This service offers round-the-clock monitoring and protection through a combination of AI-driven agents and expert human threat hunters in partnership with some of the world’s leading security companies.
Under his leadership, Cloud4 has developed into a specialist security provider working across a number of industry sectors. Phil’s commitment to cyber security excellence is further demonstrated by Cloud4’s status as certification body for the NCSC’s Cyber Essentials and Cyber Assurance schemes, meaning they can assess and certify businesses against these standards.
Phil’s strategic vision and dedication to protecting SMEs, typically ranging from 10 to 500 employees, have positioned Cloud4 Technology as a trusted partner in the industry, and as a key strategic partner for its clients.
Jack Duff is a Sales Engineer at Huntress, specializing in cybersecurity for small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and Managed Service Providers (MSPs). With over 10 years of experience in the IT channel, Jack brings a wealth of knowledge and practical insights to the field, helping organizations strengthen their security posture. He is known for his ability to translate complex cybersecurity challenges into actionable solutions.
Alastair is the Founder of EZHR, a HR subscription solution for SMEs that wants to lower barrier of entry to really good advice.
Prior to that he spent 15 years’ working in house for various Blue Chip FMCG and manufacturing businesses along with a number of global BPO organisations. His work was across various areas of specialism including employee relations, organisational change, development, TUPE, and business sale.
Additionally, he hosts The Alternative Business Review. A podcast for early-stage founders that offers an alternative take on what it’s really like founding and growing a business.
Sarah Aytoun is an experienced Senior Client Relationship Manager specialising in the Modern Workplace at IN4 Group. With over three years of prior experience as a Strategic Partnerships Manager at GC Angels, she has played a pivotal role in fostering collaboration across Greater Manchester’s early-stage funding ecosystem. Sarah has a strong background in developing partnerships with universities, innovation hubs, and startups, facilitating scalable growth through funding and innovation. Her expertise spans relationship management, deal flow, and ecosystem building within the tech and investment sectors.
