Investing in the natural environment

Investing in the natural environment will bring major benefits to everyone living and working within Greater Manchester. High quality green spaces can reduce flood risk, help improve air quality and enhance physical and mental wellbeing, as well as just being fantastic places to spend time in. The benefits to people and communities across the city are clear but what does this mean for business? Come along and hear leading businesses explain the importance of the natural environment to their business. They will set out how and why they are choosing to invest in it and the benefits they are delivering; for themselves as well as the wider society and the environment.

The event is one of a number of Listening Events being held in the run up to the Mayor’s Green Summit in March.  Therefore we are also looking for your ideas on how we can build on these examples to create a natural environment worthy of one of Europe’s leading green cities. These will feed into the Greater Manchester Environment Charter; which will be launched at the Mayor’s Green Summit as a call to action for the public sector, communities, businesses and voluntary organisations to deliver a thriving and sustainable city for the future. This will then lead after the Summit to the production of a Post 2020 GM Environment Strategy.
