Careers in Ideas is an initiative that was created for anyone considering – or who might consider – a career in the world of IP, and for those who support them in their choices. This fantastic initiative connects aspiring IP professionals with experienced mentors. Our mentors, including myself, and a number of my colleagues at Appleyard Lees, are all passionate about IP and eager to share their knowledge.

We understand that navigating a new career path can be tricky – that’s why we are working with IP Inclusive to offer free Careers in Ideas mentoring sessions to answer your questions about the IP sector and provide guidance to achieve your goals – no matter which role you are interested in. From where to find jobs, to discovering the skills you’ll need, crafting a stellar application and understanding the recruitment process, we’ve got you covered.

This program is especially valuable for those who might not have access to guidance about IP careers. Whether you’re from a school, university, or background that lacks exposure to IP, the Careers in Ideas mentoring scheme is here to bridge the gap.

While there are a number of trademark and patent attorney mentors, the scheme also extends its reach beyond these areas. Those interested in support and administrative roles, HR, marketing, finance, or accounts can also benefit from valuable mentorship. As mentors, we do our best to answer your questions, and if there’s a specific area outside our expertise, we can connect you with someone who can provide even more targeted guidance.
