I believe that a good Finance Director does his work in the background, that they don’t seek the limelight.

The Managing Director is the face of the business, the Finance Director is there to support. I have taken this approach with all my clients and I very rarely talk about the work that I do for them.

But I also have been reminded that I am effectively Managing Director of my own business and that I should talk, on occasions, about that. So here are a few of the things that I have been up to this year.

• Assisted in securing a ten figure facility for fast growing FMCG business,
• Advised on the restructuring of a family owned home products business,
• Streamlined the Reporting, Forecasting and MI of an 8 figure turnover services business,
• Assisted in the MBO of a rapidly expanding IT Services business,
• Mentored an FD in an EMI in the clothing sector,
• Helped prepare an online subscription based business for sale,
• Re designed the finance function and reporting for an aerospace projects business.

As you can see I get involved in a wide range of industries and solve a range of problems.
That is one of the things that I love about my job.
