Manchester Foundation Trust Charity challenges local businesses to take on Manchester city centre’s tallest abseil

Looking for the ultimate team building experience? Look no further. Manchester Foundation Trust Charity is giving local businesses the opportunity to take part in Manchester city centre’s tallest abseil to raise funds for the Trust’s family of ten NHS hospitals, including Royal
Manchester Children’s Hospital – the UK’s largest and busiest children’s hospital.

The Heroes at the Hyatt charity abseil event, which will take place on Friday 4 July from 4pm at the Hyatt Regency, close to Oxford Road, will see fearless fundraisers take on the 19-storey (170ft) descent for a great cause.
Proceeds from the event will support life-changing projects across the Trust’s family of hospitals including the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment for diagnosis and treatment; pioneering medical research, and the creation of welcoming, friendly environments that allow
patients, and their families, to feel at ease during their time in hospital.
Back by popular demand, the Friday evening will also feature a free Sunset Social networking event, giving local businesses the opportunity to come together and enjoy the impressive panoramic views from the Hyatt Regency’s 18th floor bar area. The event will include exclusive
food and drinks offers, music, well-being led crafts and of course, the opportunity to take one of
the city’s most gravity-defying selfies.
Rachel Laycock, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Manchester Foundation Trust Charity says: “The feedback from last year’s Sunset Social was so positive from the businesses that took part that we knew we had to bring it back this year. With that Friday evening in the city buzz, people gathered at the bottom of the Hyatt cheering on their colleagues and friends and the sun setting over Manchester in the background, it’s such a feelgood atmosphere and people have commented on how it was such a fun way to end a work week.”

“The Heroes at the Hyatt abseil is such a unique opportunity in the city, the views are stunning and it feels extra special seeing the children’s hospital and our other Oxford Road campus hospitals in the distance as you descend from the roof, knowing you’re doing something to
make a real difference to patients cared for there. We’re not saying that makes it less scary but it certainly puts it all in perspective.”
Local businesses are encouraged to come along to the free networking event, with abseil registration priced at an additional £25 per person.

The event will run from 4pm until 10pm on Friday 4 July.
