About the Speakers:
Dr Elizabeth Stephens is an investment and country risk advisor and Managing Director of Geopolitical Risk Advisory, a geopolitical tech company. Using data analytics to track global developments enables GRA to forecast geopolitical risk trends and advise clients on the implementation of strategies to manage and mitigate the risks.
Her specialist knowledge encompasses the drivers of geopolitics change, global trade and supply chain management and the geopolitics of technology and decarbonisation.
Prior to founding Geopolitical Risk Advisory, Elizabeth was Head of Credit & Political Risk Advisory at JLT Specialty where she worked with some of the world’s largest commodity traders,
energy companies and financial institutions in Europe, Africa and the US. Whilst at JLT she designed and built the World Risk Review, a cutting edge country risk ratings tool that provides risk ratings and analysis for 198 territories. It is still used extensively today.
Tim is a true Mancunian, born and raised in Sale, he was educated at St Ambrose College before embarking on his career in insurance.
Tim’s insurance career has spanned more than 35 years having started at Norwich Union (now Aviva) as a trainee development underwriter and later moving to AIG as a Professional Indemnity (PI) underwriter.
In early 2001 Tim joined Richard Thacker & Company, an insurance brokers based in Cheadle where he eventually invested to become joint owner and Director. Tim has spent much of his broking career as a specialist in PI insurance, most specifically for Solicitors’ practices.
In 2014, Richard Thacker & Company was acquired by the broking group now known as Tysers. Tim heads up their Manchester team, who operate from offices in York Street. His team offer broking services to businesses across the North.
Tim is an advocate of Dr Elizabeth Stephens having previously seen her forecast the emerging Geopolitical Risk Landscape and predict its impact on the UK economy. In this fireside chat he’s delighted to be able share her expertise with businesses in our region.
Today Tim still resides with his wife and children in Sale and is a supporter of Sale Rugby Club and Manchester City Football Club.
