I love what I do, I love the challenge, I love the variety, and I love the work life balance that it gives me.

I also love that it allows me to make a real difference to the businesses I work with.

Often, I am their first Finance Director, and I get to help them understand just how much value a good FD can bring to a business.

I often get to prepare the first set of accurate, timely, insightful management accounts. They have been used to seeing a profit and loss and a balance sheet, but these have been of dubious accuracy, in particular costs and revenue have rarely been matched, so they have paid little attention to them.

I get to prepare the first board pack and show them just how decent, insightful information can lead to better decisions.

I get to work with the business to formulate a strategy to build forecasts that support it and to secure funding to achieve it.

As I say I love my job, I get to make a real difference.
