This year’s Equality Dinner delivers an important rallying call for LGBTQ+ supporters and allies – that we need to stand together to protect the progress we have made. Linden Archive Manchester book launch
OUT & ABOUT WITH LINDEN: A Queer Archive of the North — Stuart Linden Rhodes Manchester book launch with a talk from Stuart Linden and book signing.
OUT & ABOUT WITH LINDEN: A Queer Archive of the North is a selected archival work capturing the 1990s LGBTQ+ club and pub scene across the north of England, from Birmingham to Newcastle. Celebratory in tone, it encapsulates a people defiant in the face of the AIDS crises and discriminatory laws. Featuring a foreword by Harry Clayton-Wright, with contributions from Boy George, Paul O’Grady, Julian Clary, Su Pollard, Heather Small, Mel B and more.
‘Linden’ was the roving reporter for APN and the Gay Times during the early to mid 1990s, his columns for those magazines were entitled: Out & About with Linden. Stuart Linden Rhodes was also a lecturer at a local further education college, the pseudonym ‘Linden’ adopted due to concerns generated by draconian Clause 28 legislation sanctioned by Tory governments of the era. At home in North Yorkshire during the ‘rona lockdowns of 2020-21, Stuart established the Linden Archive online as a way to preserve his work and look back fondly on the brash, thriving gay scene of the 1990s.
LINDEN ARCHIVES: Stuart Linden Rhodes
A new coffee table size photobook of the queer 1990’s is available now for pre order from https://www.pariahpress.com/product-page/linden-archives

New LGBTQIA+ Radio 4 Drama Recorded in Hebden Bridge
The Most Important Conversations Happen in Bed, Across fifty years of bedsheets, the love story of two extraordinary women unfolds against the backdrop of evolving LGBTQ+ rights in Britain. The romance between wild-hearted Margo and shrinking violet Lucille twists and turns as the political debate around queer love transforms from aversion to acceptance.
The podcast is here….
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m00202m5
Queer female stories are rarely portrayed in the media. Longstanding lesbian relationship narratives are virtually non-existent. This drama is quietly radical in its intimate depiction of two women’s personal lives revolutionised by the outside world’s changing relationship to queer love. The play asks: is love enough to weather the storm of conflicting political debate?
The writer, Natasha Sutton Williams, is a queer writer who excels in telling untold LGBTQIA+ narratives with nuance and humour.
Gaydio:
Unemployed and looking for new skills?
The next dates for Gadio’s ‘Work Club’ course 4th – 8th November.

Manchester Pride: Your Voice Matters.
In 2021 Manchester Pride refreshed the way it engages with Greater Manchester’s LGBTQ+ communities to ensure more people were able to provide feedback about what they want the Charity to support, and how Manchester Pride delivers the annual Festival. Pride In Our Future is Manchester Pride’s consultation project which creates multiple opportunities throughout the year for our communities to tell us what they want to see from our events and from the Charity.
They want to ensure they’re doing everything they can to achieve their vision and support LGBTQ+ people during the Festival and beyond, with year-round campaigns, events and opportunities. But they can’t do this without you. They want to hear what you feel are the issues affecting LGBTQ+ communities, what causes you’d like to see Manchester Pride support in the future, and what you’d like from future Manchester Pride Festivals. Your honest feedback is valuable to them and helps shape the future of Manchester Pride.
They invite you to share your views on the future of Manchester Pride. Your input will directly influence their strategic direction, including setting priorities for grant distribution and shaping the Manchester Pride Festival. This is your opportunity to play a vital role in co-designing the future of the modern Pride movement.
For full details on the ways you can get involved, please see this link: https://www.manchesterpride.com/prideinourfuture

A message from Gaynor Auty, PhD Researcher
I am a PhD student currently conducting a piece of research examining experiences of intrusive behaviour within interpersonal relationships, with a particular focus upon LGBTQ+ individuals.
LGBTQ+ individuals, particularly those who identify as bi/pansexual and transgender show some of the highest victimisation rates, and the aim of my study is to understand why such minority groups are highly victimised, in a bid to create change and prevention.
I am contacting you to ask if you would be willing to share my study link and assist me in making my study visible to the community. I would love to gain enough LGBTQ+ participants to be able to conduct successful and meaningful analyses.
I am passionate about shedding light onto sexual and gender minority victimisation, in hope that my research can, in the future, inform police and helping services.
Below is the link to the research project.
