Gateley Legal has bolstered its specialist residential development team in Manchester with the appointment of new partner, Dan Kendall.
Kendall joins Gateley Legal following four years at DAC Beachcroft where he specialised in strategic land and joint venture acquisitions, including Homes England developments and partnership schemes.
In total, he has practiced for 12 years, which includes experience as in-house legal counsel for Bovis Homes, as well as roles with Addleshaw Goddard and Trowers & Hamlins. Kendall was named a Thomson Reuters Stand-Out Lawyer for 2024.
Kendall will work closely alongside partners Louise Ilhan and Leanne Murray, as well as legal director, Nick Molloy, as Gateley Legal continues to invest in people and rapidly expands its specialist residential development offering in the North West.
On his appointment, Kendall said: “I am delighted to be joining Gateley Legal. The Manchester team is well known for its outstanding contributions to the residential development sector across the North West, and I’m already familiar with a few faces so knew it would be the right move. It’s exciting to be working for a team which offers more than just legal expertise to housebuilder and developer clients, as it delivers a full-service offering in collaboration with the consultancy businesses within the wider Group.”
Callum Nuttall, partner and national head of the residential development team at Gateley Legal, said: “It’s brilliant to have Dan on board with us in Manchester. He brings vast experience in handling complex strategic land matters which will really bolster our specialist offering. We have created a formidable team in the North West which holds great experience of working as in-house counsel for housebuilders and developers. As a result, the team has a real in-depth understanding of our clients’ needs which has seen them become the go-to residential development specialists across the North West.”
Gateley Legal acts for 18 of the top 20 housebuilders in the UK, on either a regional or national scale, and handles approximately 15,000 plot sales per year. It is one of the few legal businesses in the country with a separate housebuilder team specialising in services for residential developers.
