1. Introduce yourself
Hi I’m Joe, I work at Travel Counsellors as the Sustainability and Impact Lead. Within my role I oversee our own carbon reporting and reduction efforts, alongside supporting our Travel Counsellors to create more sustainable travel plans for both our leisure customers and corporate clients.
2. Career highlight
Being invited over to Las Vegas to speak on a panel about sustainability in travel and the potential for it to deliver greater benefits for host communities.
3. Name three words that describe your personality
Easy-going, hardworking and loyal
4. What’s the best thing about pro-manchester
The variety of events that bring people together across the city. I always like the opportunity to meet in person for events but many are held down in London so it takes out a full day and often most of an evening.
5. What are your priorities for 2024
Work – making it clear what Travel Counsellors’ intentions are for sustainability for the coming years, and creating more sustainable travel experiences that customers love and want to repeat again and again.
Home – packing in time with friends and family whilst avoiding distraction
6. What do you think are the most important things going on in Manchester at the moment?
There’s a big move to bring people into the city centre and much of those making the move are younger people. It’s giving the place a good buzz and feels like there’s a lot of creative spaces.
7. Favourite meeting place in Manchester
Beehive lofts in Ancoats
8. Are there any particular types of businesses that you would like to meet
Workplace education. We’re always looking for ways we can grow understanding of this important subject.
