At County Cost Consultants, we are continuously striving to enhance our services and strengthen our team’s capabilities. We are thrilled to share some internal updates that will undoubtedly contribute to the success and credibility of our firm. From celebrating significant case victories to team members achieving certifications and qualifications, these developments reflect our commitment to excellence and our dedication to consistently providing a top tier service to our clients.
Newly Qualified Cost Lawyer
We are proud to announce that a valued member of our team, Ariane Paes, has now qualified to be a cost lawyer. Entering her fifth year with County Cost, Ariane has continuously proven her capabilities with her successful case record whilst balancing a full family life. Ariane’s recent achievement exemplifies her commitment for career growth and her contribution to the team.
County’s First Accredited Trainers
Our two newly appointed directors, Emily Dill & Thomas Walsh, are now certified Accredited Costs Lawyers.
Achieving certification as accredited trainers offers numerous benefits to fellow cost lawyers looking for training to improve their skill set and career ambitions. Cost law practitioners can rely on both Emily & Tom’s professional credibility and extensive knowledge and experience when receiving professional development guidance from them.
Emily & Tom look forward to offering training services and seminars to aspiring cost lawyers from around the country.
Celebrating A Recent Case Success
Our recent success story, led by one of our skilled senior draftsmen James Johnstone, demonstrates the exceptional capability and knowledge our team possesses. In a complex case involving a claim for Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI) and a secondary personal injury, the Defendant attempted to limit costs by including an additional term within a Part 36 offer to contract into Fixed Costs. This attempt was effectively challenged by our team.
The Defendant’s term was not upheld at Provisional Assessment, and the Claimant’s costs were assessed on the Standard Basis. Despite initial resistance, our client’s costs were successfully justified, resulting in a recovery of approximately 50% more profit costs compared to the Fixed Recoverable Costs (FRC) initially offered by the Defendant.
ACL Conference in Manchester
Earlier this month, three senior members of staff, Emily Dill, Thomas Walsh and Peter Hickey attended an Association of Costs Lawyers Conference in Manchester.
Emily, Tom and Peter enjoyed the event which detailed cost law updates, approaches to cost law in the UK along with opportunities to connect with current and potential peers in the industry.
The County Cost team values and enjoys being involved with the cost law community and looks forward to future ACL events!
