1. Introduce yourself
Hi, my name is Lucy Patel and I am a Registered Nutritional Therapist and Women’s Health Specialist. I left my job as a Senior Project Manager three years ago having spent four years re-training as a Nutritionist, and opened the doors to my clinic in September 2021.

In my clinic I support women struggling with infertility, perimenopause, PCOS and hormone related issues. I also provide women’s health seminars, webinars and drop in clinics to businesses who want to provide expert women’s health advice and support to their staff.

I also have two girls who are just coming out of the intensity of the baby/toddler years! They are a big motivator for me; I don’t want them to have the same experience I had when they grow up – I want them to feel excited, empowered and confident when they start menstruating, not scared and frustrated (and told they can’t do sport when they’re on their period…)

2. Career highlight
Its been an interesting journey so far! It has been great to incorporate my project management experience which has been incredibly helpful in setting up and running the business single handedly.

Career highlight to date – tough one, but I think it has to be helping five women who had been struggling with their fertility to get pregnant, all of whom welcomed their new babies into the world this year

3. Name three words that describe your personality
Driven, energetic, and a massive worrier!

4. What’s the best thing about pro-manchester?
The events are always top notch (hats off to Rachel and all the Events Team!) I’ve had the privilege of being a panel member twice now and I love nothing more than talking about what really excites me with others who share the same passion.

I now Co-Chair the Wellbeing Committee and we have big plans to drive the wellbeing agenda and conversation in 2024! I love that Pro-Manchester have so much energy and commitment to supporting businesses and their employees thrive.

5. What are your priorities for 2024
Raising awareness of the importance of educating women in the workplace and equipping them with practical and simple advice that helps them to start making positive change in their life.

The wellbeing space is unfortunately becoming increasingly faddy and the number of products and “solutions” being peddled to vulnerable women is on the rise. My background is purely science and evidence based – I only teach and educate based on research, what is proven to work, and is above all safe. I am building some very exciting collaborations with other small businesses in Manchester to bring my experience in women’s health together with others in this space (ie. fitness professionals), and together creating really impactful (and evidence-backed!) events to support the women of Manchester better understand their cycle and their hormones, regardless of which stage of life they are at.

6. Favourite meeting place in Manchester?
Haunt or Ezra & Gil – if they do excellent coffee I’m sold!

7. Are there any particular types of businesses that you would like to meet?
I’d love to connect with small businesses in and around Manchester who may not have the time or resource capacity to develop wellbeing plans that truly support their female staff but are motivated to do so. I can help build out a suitable strategy that is tailored to the needs of the business.
