Celebrate LGBT+ History Month
LGBT+ History Month is an annual celebration of the lives of LGBT+ people of the past. It is marked every February in the UK, with each year’s celebration having its own unique theme. The Proud Trust has produced a free downloadable pack for schools to celebrate LGBT+ History Month, including four engaging lesson plans developed by our expert Training and Education team.
The lesson plans are written with the National Curriculum in mind, with activities which can tie in to History, Relationships and Sex Education, Media Studies and English lessons. You can learn how to deliver the most effective LGBT+ History Month lessons at their online training course on 24th January.
If you are passionate about supporting LGBT+ young people in your school, why not take this as your cue to sign up for the Rainbow Flag Award and commit to making your school a safe, supportive and inclusive space for all students?

The Sunday Boys, Manchester’s low-voiced, LGBTQ+ choir, have been nominated for a Royal Philharmonic Society Inspiration Award and need your vote.
Described by The Sunday Times as ‘the biggest night in UK classical music’, the Royal Philharmonic Society Awards are classical music’s annual good news story, shining much-needed light on inspirational individuals, groups and initiatives whose music has lifted hearts and minds across the nation.
The winner of this RPS Award will fittingly be chosen by the public. A shortlist of four exceptional entities has been assembled by a panel who themselves work with non-professional groups and, from these, the public is invited to vote for whom they feel should receive this year’s award.

LGBT+ Veterans Pride
Fighting with Pride, in partnership with the Royal Navy, RBL, Sahir House and Forces Wellbeing Collective, will host Veteran Pride at HMS Eaglet, Liverpool. Saturday 10th Feb from 5pm with 5.30 pm start.
Veterans Pride is a celebration of LGBT History Month and a celebration of FWP and fellow campaigners’ achievements that attracted national media and TV coverage after a successful campaign for a government-backed Independent Review chaired by Lord Etherton. This led to a State apology from the Prime Minister with other recommendations from the report, and further reparations to be debated in Parliament in 2024.
Veterans Pride will be an evening of poignant stories, entertainment and performances, including drag queen acts, comediennes, and vocalists. There will be a three-course buffet.
The event is for all LGBT+ Veterans, partners and allies. It is the first major event held in the North West for LGBT+ Veterans and allies from across the UK.

Out With Prostate Cancer: Real Conversation For A Change
Their Group offers mutual support, shared experience and practical information to those who face the many challenges that come with a diagnosis of prostate cancer (they do not offer medical advice on individual cases and suggest you contact your GP, Prostate Can-cer UK or Macmillan Cancer Care). The Group is directed primarily at gay and bisexual men and trans-women, including those who are:
- frightened by what is happening to them
- apprehensive about treatment and want to see how others have coped
- coping well and don’t need support — but come along to support others
- happily in remission and attend the group to show others it can get better
Through the sharing of experiences, down-to-earth anecdotal advice and the provision of an open forum, the group aims to assist members to reduce feelings of isolation and to gain perspective.

The DYNAMIC study is a research project about social care support for people with young onset dementia and their families. We want to learn about the support available, and what could be improved, from people with lived experience.

Social care provision for people with young onset dementia and their supporters: the DYNAMIC study
Are you interested in helping to improve social care for people with young onset dementia? The DYNAMIC study is seeking to better understand current social care planning and provision for people with young onset dementia in England. They are looking for people who have a role in or an awareness of adult social care planning, provision, management or commissioning to complete a quick online survey (will take no more than 10 minutes). The information from the survey will be used to create recommendations and resources for improving social care provision for people living with young-onset dementia.

- The Good Life with Dementia Project
The Good Life with Dementia Project is evaluating a peer-led course designed by and for people who have been newly diagnosed with Dementia. There are two knowledge exchange sessions (one online, and one in person in York) sharing information about the course and the findings from the evaluation of the project.

Lesbian and Gay Older Adults Experiences of Living with Bipolar Disorder
This research project aims to investigate lesbian and gay older adults’ experiences of living with bipolar disorder. They will be interviewing individuals about their experiences.

Housing, Homelessness & Advocacy Lead
Based in central Manchester reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will co-ordinate, manage and develop the advocacy and support aspects of our work, ensuring we have safe, effective and accessible services that meet the needs of our participants. You will lead and develop our outreach, advocacy and case work support services and manage a small team of staff, volunteers and placement students.
A key element of the role will be working with individuals to prevent or relieve homelessness including sourcing affordable, suitable, and sustainable private rented sector accommodation. You will also help individuals to address any other support needs they may have which are a barrier to achieving their goals and ending their homelessness by linking them with relevant agencies. This role requires skilled delivery of a range of interventions and a passion for working with those who face multiple disadvantages in society.
