Join Rise on Thursday, 23 November for a fintech founder event. We welcome serial entrepreneur, Joel Perlman again, but this time to Manchester’s Bonded Warehouse to share his founder story, the key lessons he’s learnt along the way and his top tips for success.
Rise, created by Barclays is a global community of fintech founders. Some of you may remember our thriving co-working space in Manchester which sadly closed its doors in 2017. Good news, we’re kicking our ecosystem back with a series of founder events, and we can’t wait!
About Joel Pearlman, Co-founder of OakNorth
Joel is the Co-founder and Senior Managing Partner of OakNorth. He started his first business, Copal Partners, a financial research company, in 2002 with just $60k. Over 12 years, he and his Co-founder, Rishi Khosla, scaled it to a 3,000-employee organisation across 13 markets, before selling it to Moody’s Corporation in 2014. They then set out to build their second business – OakNorth, the neobank for entrepreneurs, by entrepreneurs, that’s on a mission to support the UK’s “Missing Middle” – established small-to-medium enterprises who are seeking to scale but are routinely overlooked or underserved by incumbent banks and alternative lenders. OakNorth has a large team based out of its Manchester city centre office.
Joel grew up in Bogota, Colombia. He began his career as a Consultant at McKinsey & Company and has degrees from the London School of Economics and Georgetown University.
You will have the opportunity to hear directly from Joel as he candidly shares his experiences to date, some of the pitfalls he came across on his way, and his top tips for avoiding them on your own entrepreneurial journey as a FinTech founder. We will also open the floor to the audience for Q&A.
