Legal Counsel – Corporate Real Estate Manchester, Hybrid working

As a Barclays Legal Counsel within our Corporate Real Estate (CRES) team, you’ll provide strategic and daily legal support across the Barclays Group for all jurisdictions, both advisory and transactional. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing team and work on a diverse range of projects. You’ll focus on managing legal risks for CRES projects, working with external legal suppliers to provide legal services in a dynamic, controlled and business friendly manner.

What will you be doing?
• Negotiating and advising on a wide range of projects relating to CRES and supporting on commercial, innovation, technology and outsourcing-related projects
• Advising on strategic legal issues and transactional legal issues
• Advising on the structuring of transactions and wider strategies and deals to best meet the stated transactional, business unit and functional objectives while minimising legal risk
• developing relationships with key stakeholders and helping to shape legal coverage to evolving business needs
• Reporting on risks and key transactional information to allow stakeholders to make informed decisions
What we’re looking for:
• Qualified solicitor or barrister, or equivalent foreign qualified lawyer, eligible to take a qualified lawyer transfer test
• Strong advisory and analytical skills and experience.
• Collaborative team player and excellent communicator who contributes and generates innovative ideas and acts in an inclusive manner
• Ability to advise clearly under pressure and exercise judgement to mitigate commercial and legal risk and facilitate business objectives within a controlled environment
Skills that will help you in the role:
• Experience of working in-house, on secondment or with a significant law firm
• Comprehensive experience in advising on complex real estate, construction and commercial matters
• Ability to demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of Barclays and its operational and strategic objectives
• Experience of working as part of a large team of lawyers with multiple stakeholders

This role is hybrid working and will based at home and our prime location Manchester office.
Our Manchester office is in the heart of the city centre, offering a modern working environment, with restaurants, bars and gyms just a stone’s throw away from the office.
