Deloitte’s North West practice has embraced the firm’s national ‘One Million Futures’ responsible business campaign, with more than 3,400 hours donated by staff members to support regional schools, charities and social enterprises.
The total, which equates to 90 full working weeks, was provided by more than 580 individuals from across the region’s Manchester and Liverpool offices. As a direct result of their efforts, 11,994 people were supported across the firm’s charity and educational partners.
In addition to donating time, members of the North West office also contributed over £337,000 through fundraising and pro-bono projects to expand the capacity and capabilities of the regional partners.
As well as local schools, colleges and universities, partners include charities and social enterprises like Teach First, Depaul who tackle youth homelessness – an issue that has become prevalent in cities across the North West, and Greenbank, a disability charity providing support to disadvantaged groups in Liverpool.
Launched in 2016, One Million Futures aimed to help one million people to improve their lives through access to education and employment. The scheme surpassed the one million mark earlier this year, a year ahead of target. Over the course of the four year campaign, Deloitte delivered a national community contribution of over £22m.
Building on the back of the success of its One Million Futures campaign, Deloitte is continuing to support their society partners as part of their ambitious Five Million Futures initiative.
Chris Rix, partner at Deloitte in the North West: “From inception, the firm embraced the One Million Futures initiative, and has worked collaboratively to have a positive impact on the communities in which we live and work. Over the last four years, we have gained a better understanding of the challenges faced by people across the region, and the incredible work done by the charities, schools and social enterprises that support them.
“Achieving this milestone is not the end goal, and we remain as committed to our society partners in the North West now as we were when we launched our original campaign in 2016. We look forward to building on our success to date, delivering an impact that matters, as we embark on our Five Million Futures journey.”
