Manchester Met Third Term Initiative – Short-Term Placements
20th November 2019, 2:16 pm
The Third Term is a University initiative intended to boost student success. It encourages students to engage with activities in June, which will connect them with industry and provide them with skills and experience gained in a business focussed setting.
Students will spend time at the beginning of The Third Term completing a programme of workshops/courses to prepare them for their experience to take place next June. Students will then complete an assessed piece of reflective work upon completion of their experience, allowing them to gain 30 academic credits towards their degree.
The experience will take form in the shape of a short placement (suggested two weeks) opportunity in June 2020. Some placements may be intensive, full time one week. Others may be less intense, but require students to work across three weeks.
How can you engage with The Third Term?
We are looking for employers & organisations that would be interested in offering a short placement for students. The following areas have been identified as key business areas in which our students could provide support – please do not take this list as finite though as we are more than happy to consider alternative suggestions within business your functions.
- Accountancy & Finance
• Data Analysis
• Human Resources
• Marketing
• Public Relations
• Social Media
We recognise that different organisations will be able to make different commitments to working with our students, so we are more than happy to have a conversation to help develop an opportunity suitable to the level of involvement you can offer.
As well as directly supporting the employability of students from a local University, joining us as a partner employer would allow your organisation to benefit from the expertise and energy of our student body.
What do we need from you?
Let us know if you are interested in engaging by responding to this email, indicating which business area(s) you would be looking for support in. We will then place your details on file and contact you again to formalise your short-placement offer for next summer.
