BLM, a leading commercial law and insurance risk firm with offices in Manchester, has been announced as the official legal partner of the Greater Manchester (GM) Mayor’s Charity.
The GM Mayor’s Charity endorsed by Mayor Andy Burnham is an independent organisation focused on supporting vulnerable members of the community and tackling social issues impacting the region.
Taking over from the Mayor’s Homeless Fund in May 2019, the charity has raised more than £646,000 to date. It is currently supporting the Bed Every Night campaign, which aims to end the need for rough sleeping across the region.
BLM’s Commercial Advisory and Private Wealth group will be providing pro-bono commercial and employment law services to assist the charity administration.
Siri Siriwardene, Head of BLM’s Commercial Advisory and Private Wealth team, commented: “We are delighted to partner with a charity dedicated to positively impacting the North West region. Their ethos and planned initiatives are having a truly transformational effect on our community.
“The cause is close to the hearts of our regionally based lawyers many of whom are actively involved in programmes tackling homelessness and rough sleeping. Combining their legal expertise and passion to help the GM Mayor’s Charity allows us to support the partnership dedicated to making a genuine difference to our home of Greater Manchester.”
Tim Heatley, Capital + Centric CEO and chair of the charity’s Trustee Board, commented: “The GM Mayor’s Charity is grateful to welcome Siri and the BLM team on board – they join a growing family of dedicated supporters. We trust their generous guidance and advice will drive us forward on our mission of tackling the social issues close to the hearts of the people of Greater Manchester, and inspiring truly positive change to our city region.”
The Commercial Advisory and Private Wealth team was launched by BLM in January 2018, introducing a raft of new services to the firm, including estate planning and probate, family law, employment law and white collar crime.
