Manchester law firm supports hospice charity as part of free will week

The Manchester office of national law firm Clarke Willmott LLP is supporting a charity close to its heart as part of this year’s free Will Week that starts on March 11th. 

It is inviting people to use its services to write a will, but instead of paying them, clients will be invited to donate the money to the city’s St Ann’s Hospice instead.  

“St Ann’s is Clarke Willmott’s charity of the year and any money raised during Will Week will help support this hugely worthwhile organisation,” said the firm’s Emma Ramsden.  

“A number of the people in the Manchester office have first-hand experience of the sad loss of a loved-one and the amazing support that hospices provide.” 

“We are delighted to help St Ann’s continue to give people who are approaching the end of life the best care possible in a calm and tranquil surrounding.” 

Emma’s own father in law passed away at St Ann’s in 2014 and says the family has nothing but praise for the hospice team there. 

“They were always working their hardest and doing their best to do everything they could for us and to help fulfil the family’s wishes.” 

“Nothing was too much trouble, and everything was done with a sympathetic smile or hug just when you need it. The care and dignity they provide is second to none.” 

Free Wills Week offers individuals and couples the opportunity to have a simple Will written, or updated, free of charge that accurately reflects their wishes.  

Those taking up the offer are under no obligation to leave a gift to St Ann’s but it is hoped that many will see this as a chance to help their favourite cause. 

Head of the private capital team at Clarke Willmott, Paul Davies, said having a will in place helps give peace of mind.  

“It will make it a lot easier for your friends and family to sort out your assets when you are gone, and ensure your loved-ones are provided for according to your wishes,” said Paul. 

“Making a will is also an opportunity to obtain advice about what are the best options for dealing with your estate.”   

St Ann’s provides palliative care to thousands of patients in the Greater Manchester area and support for their families through residential care at the hospice and through care at home. 

It costs £20,000 a day to keep the hospice running.
